Message to all parents. In an effort to build our library, we would appre-ciate donations of novels that students have finished from this year. Just think how many books we would have on hand for students to checkout as needed! Getting our library established is very impor-tant to the future success of our school, so I thank you in advance for all contributions or book drives that may occur on behalf of our school. OPENING STATEMENT Welcome to Roxboro Community School's PTSO meeting where our motto is "We are only as good as our parents." For you that are new to our school, let me give you a brief outline of our school. A few years back, a group of parents who got their roots from Bethel Hill, and liked the charter school environment, decided to get together and write a charter. This group wanted to offer something different in education for middle and high school. After a lot of hard work over a long period of time, the last charter in North Carolina was issued to Roxboro Community School. Like all great and wonderful ideas, you need the right people to implement them or they will die a quick death. If you were a parent with a student here last year, will you please stand. Folks! These are the parents that made our dream of Roxboro Community School a reality. Would you please help me give them a hand for all their hard work! I am so glad to see you here! With your presence, you have said that you are here willing and able to support the students of Roxboro Community School. Our goal is to raise money for our school. Of course that means fundraisers! One of our goals is to try and keep the fundraiser down to what we feel is a bare minimum (we really do not want people hiding when they see you coming.) We will try to have fundraisers that people can actually use. One example would be: People eat and most people drink soft drinks. People love to have their car washed, people usually like a raffle.
So with all that being said, I hope
you will all sign up to help the Booster Club Fundraiser
on September 29th. This will help raise money for
our athletic program. We hope it will include the
following: (We are waiting on confirmation on a
few things), Now PTSO House Business
1. Please take a ballot to vote
in your PTSO officers. We will collect those in
September. You should have received a list of
those offices at Open House. If not, Please pick
up one tonight. These committees help the school save money on operating expenses. That money then goes back into the school for books, labs, etc. Did you know the grounds committee saves us about $1000 a month? The lunch room committee lets our children have a hot lunch. The Maintenance committee helps keep small cost from becoming large cost. If I could leave you with one thought, I would hope it would be this: The parents of 2006 are a shining example of what can be accomplished if we all come together to work for the common good of our children and school. It has been an honor to work with you. Your Former PTSO
President |
