Roxboro Community School is proud to have an active middle and high school cheer program. The program has exploded in growth during the last three years. Our teams were in competition last year and will continue in that tradition. They cheer for high school girls' and boys' basketball and are spirit leaders in the school. Anyone interested in becoming a RCS cheerleader should contact Cassandra Elder for high school or Ellen Holbrook for middle school.
Tryouts are held in the spring; however, we may make exceptions (based on skill and ability) for students who were accepted to RCS late in the summer and missed tryouts. In order to be on the competition squad, however, it is mandatory to attend summer cheer camp.
An online cheerleading resource recommended for review is: www.varsity.com
It is also highly recommended that anyone interested in cheering for RCS take tumbling instruction. Tumbling classes are offered at the local gymnastics academy, but many girls also go to a cheer gym in Hillsborough. We can provide more information as requested.
