This group is part of the competitive marching band. Modern colorguard has evolved over the years into a form of entertainment similar to dance theater. Colorguard can be found in most American colleges, universities, high schools, middle schools, and independent drum corps. Colorguard uses props, along with movement, to express dynamic passages in the music accompanying the marching band show. A colorguard is traditionally the visual representation of the music. Modern colorguards use flags, sabres, rifles, swing flags, airblades, and other pieces of equipment pertaining to the music, as well as a mix of ballet, jazz, modern, and contemporary modern dance. Search DCI in YouTube for visualization of this group. Auditions for this group are held in April. Dance experience preferred but not required. This group is open to 8-12th grade students.
