Allison Warren, a 2017 graduate of Roxboro Community School (RCS), has channeled her creativity into a successful business in Uptown Roxboro. With dedication and support, Warren has created a thriving venture, Allison's Designs & Co., which is focused on custom apparel and unique designs.
While attending RCS, Warren says one teacher stood out the most. Her favorite teacher was 8th grade math teacher, Charissa Denny, who made a lasting impact on her during her time at the school. “She not only solidified my love for Math but was also a huge part of my success during my tenure at RCS. She always provided a listening ear and encouraged every student she came in contact with.”
After graduating from RCS in 2017, Warren attended Piedmont Community College, where she earned her associate’s degree in emergency medical sciences. Today, she works full-time as a paramedic for Person County EMS and also volunteers as a firefighter with the City of Roxboro. Even with a career, Warren still found a way to pursue another passion by creating custom designs. “I’ve always been a crafty person, but I purchased a Cricut Machine to start cutting more vinyl, and the rest was history,” she said. What started as a hobby quickly turned into something bigger as more and more people began asking her to make shirts for them.
One of the biggest inspirations behind her decision to start a business was her best friend, Megan Shaw. Warren says Shaw encouraged her and helped push her to believe that she could start a successful business of her own. In early 2025, Warren officially decided she wanted to open a store. With help from her mom, she was able to make that dream a reality and become part of Uptown Roxboro. Her store officially opened on Nov. 29, 2025, although she had already been making shirts for customers for several years before opening the storefront. For Warren, owning a business is about more than just selling products. One of her biggest motivations is being able to be her own boss and bring her creativity to life through the designs she creates for shirts, hats, and other items.
Looking back, Warren said she enjoyed her time at Roxboro Community School and believes it helped prepare her for life after graduation. She said the school helped shape her future by teaching her important life skills and encouraging students to never give up on their dreams. Warren’s journey shows that with determination, creativity, and support from others, it’s possible to turn a passion into a successful business. Her story is a great example for current RCS students who may be thinking about their own futures and the different paths they can take after graduation.
