
This is a reminder that NO students will be allowed to leave for lunch tomorrow. All students will have a "working lunch" with their Bulldog Care Day group in their advisor's classroom.

There will be middle school girls' basketball workouts this Thursday, September 28 from 3 - 4:30 p.m in the RCS gym. Those interested in playing should make sure they have their physical and all paperwork uploaded onto Dragonfly.
Tryouts will be in mid-November for both MS boys' and girls' basketball.


Senior night for our HS varsity tennis team will be Friday, September 29 at 4 p.m. at Huck Sansbury. Come out and celebrate the seniors and support the team as they take on Person High School!


RCS HOSA will once again host an American Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, October 26, 2023 in the multipurpose room. Appointments are available from 8:30am to 1:00pm. Make an appointment online at redcrossblood.org using sponsor code RCS or you may email Emma Pryor at pryorem@roxborocommunityschool.org. A photo ID is required for donations and 16 and 17 year old donors must have a signed parental consent form to donate blood. Thanks in advance for donating and helping to change a life!

Caroline Puryear, Jonathan Williams, Nathaniel Stovall, Olivia Ess, Patrick Peeples and Robin Puryear were recently awarded the National Rural and Small Town Award from the College Board. Today, Principal Martin presented the awardees with certificates to celebrate their recognition in front of the high school. Congratulations, Bulldogs! #BulldogProud








While the students were away, the teachers were here today! During the remote day, teachers participated in professional development together, discussing how to use AI in the classroom and how to better build leadership and community in the school. They then enjoyed lunch and a gear sale especially for them! A huge thanks to the PTSO for hosting the sale and providing lunch from Butcher's Daughter and dessert from Flat River Cafe!

Members of the Art Club, HOSA, and Interact Club had a booth set up at Relay for Life this past Friday . Members made sundaes and did some face painting to raise money for a worthy cause. Way to go, Bulldogs! #BulldogProud







Some members of the Senior Beta Club participated in the Fall 2023 Litter Sweep yesterday morning. Members worked together with others in the community to pick up litter around uptown Roxboro. We love to see our students helping out in the community! #BulldogProud






Members of the RCS High School Art Club, Aurora Bettendorf, Elizabeth Ess, Trinity Woods, Emily Adcock, Jade Torain, Chloe Glenn, Skylar Shotwell, and Abigail Smith, helped paint canvas pieces for PCC this year. The finished paintings are on display in uptown Roxboro in the PCC Small Business Center. Amazing work, Bulldogs!




The HS Journalism club will have an interest meeting on Friday right after school in Ms. Phillips' room. They will discuss goals and activities for the year, as well as the wonders of journalism!


Each year Professional Educators of North Carolina (PENC) holds their annual Young Artist Competition. The goal of the competition is to highlight the hard work of North Carolina's students and their teachers.
This year, 11th grader Emily Nguyen won 1st place in the high school division! She was awarded a certificate along with a gift card last night at the Board of Directors meeting by PENC Membership & Marketing Coordinator Aiden McInnis . RCS Visual Arts teacher Anne Bettendorf also received a certificate and a gift card. McInnis then presented a canvas print of Nguyen's winning artwork to the board of directors to display in the school. Amazing work, Emily!


Last night at the September Board of Directors meeting, current Board Chair Jona Fitzgerald presented former Board Chair Walt Rogers with a plaque to thank him for his service, dedication, and commitment to RCS for the past 9 years. Rogers served on the RCS Board of Directors from 2014 to 2023. He shared that he has loved watching and helping the school grow over the years. We appreciate Mr. Rogers and all he did for our school community.


Middle school baseball workouts for September will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. They will meet at the RCS soccer field. Anyone who is interested in playing can attend. You only need to bring workout clothes, so no baseball gear. Please make sure you have a current copy of your sport physical uploaded to Dragonfly before participating.


Important parking information for tonight!
If you are planning to attend tonight's volleyball games, we ask that you please park in the Woody Parking Lot, which is the student lot behind the school. If you are coming from Uptown down Depot street, you will turn right onto Foushee street and then left into the parking lot. You will then enter the building through that back entrance.
If you are attending Bulldog Night, please come in the front gates and park in the main parking lot.


Join us TONIGHT for our first ever Bulldog Night! Our various booths will have bulldog gear, sports teams' shirts, face painting, cotton candy, popcorn, frozen lemonade, pizza, glowsticks, baked goods, a food truck and so much more! We'll have a DJ starting at 6 and the movie will start around 7:30! We can't wait to see you there!


The (double) rainbow after the storm! Despite the rain delay, Bulldog Night was a great success! Thank you to all the volunteers and everyone who came out to support our athletic department! We love our RCS community!









Tonight's middle school boys' soccer game will now start at 5 p.m. and the high school men's soccer game will now start at 7 p.m. at the RCS field vs Eno River Academy.


Interact Club will meet Monday, September 11, immediately after school, in Mr. Bryant's office.
