There will be a middle school volleyball interest meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, May 10, from 5 to 5:30 pm in the RCS gym for any rising 6th and 7th graders who are interested in playing next year. Current 6th and 7th graders will have workouts from 5:30 to 7 pm tomorrow.

Biotech Health Science students have begun working on their final projects. First year students are dissecting frogs while second year students are dissecting fetal pigs. Dissections are performed to reinforce the learning of anatomy and anatomical terms learned throughout the school year.

Attention parents of rising 7th graders: There will be a Zoom meeting on Thursday, May 11 at 6:30 pm about renting instruments through Music and Arts. The first month's rent is $15 and your child will have an instrument waiting on them when they come in August. If you cannot attend the Zoom meeting, links were sent in an email explaining how to get instruments. The Zoom link was in that email as well.

Leslie Kent and Matt Pappas from UNC spoke to RCS Biotech Health Science students this week. They discussed DNA and how it is used in Forensics Science. Students were able to extract DNA from their saliva and they also completed an electrophoresis activity to determine the thief in a fictitious crime.

RCS Parents and Guardians, All medication kept at school must be picked up by the last day of school. Students are not permitted to transport medications home. Any medication remaining at school after the last student day will be properly disposed of. This includes all prescription and non-prescription medications, inhalers and Epinephrine pens. If you are unable to pick up medication by the last day of school, alternative arrangements can be made by contacting the school nurse prior to the end of the school year.
