Today at our End of Year Celebration, we celebrated middle school counselor, Suzy Horton who is retiring!
To celebrate her, high school counselor, LaTonya Ragland and middle school teacher, April Cobb shared their own memories and kind words about Horton along with more from other staff members. They shared about Horton’s compassion, kindness, and the fierce love she has for the students, along with her fun, no-nonsense personality! She thanked everyone for their kind words and for all the support and love she has received during her time at RCS.
As one staff member shared, Horton has been an anchor for the students at RCS and an incredible resource and friend to the staff members throughout the years. We will miss her greatly, but we are so excited for her to enjoy her retirement! The countdown is officially over!

At this time, we are under a tornado watch, which means conditions are favorable for possible tornados this evening. We are continuing to watch the weather reports. As of right now, graduation will still occur as planned tonight starting at 7 p.m. Gym doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
We will continue to monitor conditions and adjust accordingly, which could mean a possible delay in our start time in order to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families. If anything changes, we will inform you all.

For those attending graduation this evening, please remember that the front parking lot is reserved for graduates, staff, and any handicapped attendees only. Everyone else must park in the Woody Parking Lot behind the school and enter through the back entrance. Graduates report at 6 pm, doors will open to the public at 6:30 pm, and the ceremony will begin at 7 pm. No one will be admitted without a ticket. The ceremony will be broadcast live. The link to the broadcast will be on our website.

We are currently experiencing a power outage. Duke Power is aware and is currently troubleshooting the problem. We will update you within the hour about the operation of school for the remainder of the day.
Our Jazz Band performed in the Jim Ketch Jazz Festival on Saturday, May 10th at the North Carolina School of Science and Math. They represented RCS well and were able to get helpful comments from professional jazz musicians. They were also able to listen to other school jazz bands in our region. They did a great job! #BulldogProud

The High School Baseball State Playoff game for today has been postponed until tomorrow. They will now play at 1 p.m. at Pamlico County High School.
